2012 Events

This provides you with a reminder of who we have had as guest speakers at the club and what activities had been provided for the club members in 2012.


To bring to a close 2012, club president Warwick Banks, member of the British Racing Drivers Club (BRDC), spoke about his experiences in motor racing.


In November, the club welcomed Gabriel Uttley from the Angelic Bulldog Project, to come and speak about their world record attempt to achieve speeds of 400mph on two wheels


Because members of the steering committee were involved with BRM Day, a highly successful event to celebrate 50 years of Bourne-based BRM winning the Grand Prix world championship, the club enjoyed Guy Martin’s film ‘Closer to the Edge’.


The club welcomed former McLaren truckie and pit crew member Jon Sandalls to speak at their monthly meeting


Aviation Historian Alastair Goodrum spoke to the club about his experiences.


This was a BRM film night.


For this meeting we went on two wheels with Steve Plater who gave a talk about his life and experiences in the world of motorbike racing.


Motorsport journalist and historian Graham Robson described how he got into journalism and some advice as to how to write your own books.


Richard Egger Regional Development Manager for Go Motorsport gave us lots of information as to how people can get actively involved in the world of motorsport.


Our speakers this month cam from the world of motorbike sidecar racing, Gary and Mike Horspole entertained us with their racing experiences.


We started the 2012 season with a BRM at which ex BRM mechanics Dick Salmon and Pat Cavarth recounted their experiences when working at with the BRM teams. They were helped by motor journalist Mike Jiggle, it gave the packed house tremendous entertainment.
