2007 Events

This provides you with a reminder of who we have had as guest speakers at the club and what activities had been provided for the club members in 2007.

The monthly meeting was the regular Christmas Party with slot car racing provided by Nick Sismey and the food by the wives of the committee members.

The monthly meeting had to be changed to a DVD evening due to the speaker not being able to attend.

Some of the members went to the Rolls Royce Heritage Trust in Derby for an illustrated talk about “Dieselmax and the JCB Diesel”.

The speaker this month was Pat Thomas, the Lotus specialist from Pode Hole. He will be gave a talk on the “Life and Times of a Geriatric Racer”.

A number of members went to Silverstone for the HSCC finals meeting. The weather and racing was great, we were the guests of the Silverstone Racing Club.

The monthly meeting was handed over to Jim Jones from Baldocks Mill who showed two very interesting films about Raymond Mays and BRM.

Many members went on the visit to the Triumph Motorcycle factory at Hinckley for a guided tour.

The meeting this month was our annual BBQ, the weather was kind to us and we also had a great display of the classic cars owned by the members.

This month the club members had a tour of the Aviation Museum at Sywell near Northampton.

Steve Hall, the local MG specialist, gave a very interesting talk about the background to his business and his racing activities.

Steve Parrish entertained a large audience with his irreverent, but dedicated, approach to the racing scene. It must rank as one of the most amusing evenings that we have had.

The speaker was Simon Pullan who is an experienced GT driver as well as driving Caterhams, Group C endurance cars and TVRs.

Many members of the club came to the visit to the JCB World Headquarters at Rocester where we given a guided tour of their production lines.

The speaker at our meeting was the BTCC driver – Fiona Leggate who gave us some insight into racing at this level and the continual struggle for money.

The club started the year with what has become our traditional social gathering in January. We showed a video reliving the excellent day last June when we celebrated our 10th anniversary with our Classic Car and Bike Show in Bourne.

A group of club members had a fantastic evening out at Langer and as per usual the kart racing was extremely competitive, especially as the facility now has some new, more powerful, karts for us to test our skills (or lack of) on.
