Our speaker at the meeting on Thursday 14 September will be Jack Hamill.
Jack joined the RAF in 1960, initially flying Vulcans.
He later became a qualified flying instructor on the Gnat, and three years later converted to flying Phantoms in the air defence role.
After a tour on loan to the Sultan of Oman's Air Force, he went back to the Phantom Operational Conversion Unit and also became a display pilot on the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, flying the Spitfire and Hurricane for four years.
He converted to the Tornado F2/3 and remained as an instructor on the Tornado OCU. He subsequently went to Saudi Arabia to help with the setup of the Saudi squadrons. He retired in 1999 after 10 years in Saudi Arabia.
